v6 getting ready

Postby aruffo » Thu Dec 20, 2007 10:30 pm

I've been programming a new game for ETC v6-- not the rework of Absolute Pitch Blaster that's still coming, but a fourth game tentatively titled "Note Boat" which involves listening to streams of chords.

The game is nearly done, mechanically but not graphically; if you are currently using ETC and want to beta test the new thing and gimme feedback please send me an e-mail to let me know. (First five to respond will be the B-testers.)

When will it be ready? I'm really curious about the new game! :D

Cool 8) so the main object of note boat is to identify chord progressions? Can I send you an e-mail about testing or has that boat sailed long ago? (pun very much intended)

Not progressions, but chord components, based on the Chordhopper series. Although the game definitely fills a gap left by Chordhopper, I'm not yet completing and releasing it because it's still a component-up approach and right now I'm trying to figure out how to include a structure-down perspective.

structure-down versus component-up
I like that.
Will take this into my vocabulary :)

Best would be to create a structure-up & component-down game

regardless of whether it creates absolute pitch or not, note boat has great side effects (like all of Chris' games). It teaches you to hear parts of a chord, which is a very useful skill.
