Amanda Baggs and learning colours

Hello! Recently I've seen a very interesting clip made by Amanda Baggs - In my language - an autistic woman talks about her communication with the surrounding world. Great video, worth seeing. But that's not the point. When I was watching her other videos I found the one called " If you can do ...

etaxier - it wasn't confusing at all. Active DDA might not be a good idea. It would be hard to implement and might end up playing on too easy levels (to get the impression of how good we are) instead of getting to harder levels that would make the progress. But improving passive DDA - some mechanism...

Got some ideas about this flow and making better balance between boredom and frustration in APB. Acceleration factor could depend not only on number of correct answers in row as it is now. Answering immediately after the question means that you have answered with no problem. But correct answer but a...

Flow

Hello! I've just found a nice game called flOw (m) but it's not a game that matters here. It's the thesis behind the game. It's about active Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment so player can stay in the flow zone all the time - that means maximal focus and fun. The thesis can be read here: m It might be a...

Before singing try to imagine the note. Then compare it to the imagined melody word. If it's the right one sing it.

For me biggest problem is the control of the vocal chords. I can imagine the right note but it's hard for me to actually sing in tune to what I have in my head

It's even harder then learning a new language. But I feel it is possible, it only takes lots of work. And when I say lots of work I mean LOTS of work. When I think about it now it seems to me that ETC changed a bit the way I listen to music. Now it's more of listening to the pitches itself - the uni...

Maybe it's a matter of the instrument you play? I mean this easiness of chords versus arpeggios. For me 4 note chords with target note as a middle voice (especially when surrounded by a note the semitone higher or lower) are hell. I have to concentrate very hard and get easily confused. Arpeggios or...

These semitone errors will disappear later as you learn the C better and new pitches comes in.

Well, if it turns out that the APB does not teach the 'chroma' of a note at all No, it does. As you can hear C (as a first pitch) in more and more complex contexts you learn how to extract the Cness (chroma) of the pitch that can be heard no matter in what context it is. About the picture on the le...

What do you mean by "anchor"? Some kind of template or model you compare to? It seems to me that hearing chroma and anchoring are two different things but both needed to gain AP. From my experience - I can hear inside the tones new characteristic I haven't been able (or I wasn't aware befo...

Can't find the export option in the game menu... When statistics window show up there's no menu and I can't see any "Export" button. So I depend on what can bee seen. I've got some thoughts and ideas how I would implement statistics to get the same results. I don't know RealBasic but as I'...

Could you say something how the data for chord statistics is stored and created? I've got some ideas how to make it more efficient but it all depends on the way how statistics are made.

Chord statistics

First a question - what are the "structure only" errors? I didn't make any of them and I'm not sure what it's supposed to be... Secondly - it takes longer and longer for chord statistics to show up. It seems that these statistics are constructed from some kind of raw data every time you se...

Another thought about this experiment. I don't have the papers so it might have been just omitted in Sloboda's book as an unrelated detail but is described in the papers. This experiment shows that musicians use categorical perception. But it doesn't show what exactly this category is. You want to s...
