Chris, I read your september 15th entry this morning at work, and it's funny because I was thinking about it just as I was leaving the office. I still hadn't listened to the sound samples at this time, but I thought : changing a sound height without changing its chroma... hey ! I can do this with my...

[...] there must be some kind of reasonable solution for those who want to be mobile [...] I've been thinking about this for a while. I'd love to be able to play APB on a handheld device, like a PDA, or even a game console. I just don't have time to play it in the morning or when I come home from w...

Eventually, with acceleration turned on, you'll reach G in less than 15 minutes. I was just going to brag that after putting APB aside for several months, I started from the beginning again and, over a couple of days, got to G in 20 waves, but etaxier just stole my sunshine  Actually, ...

Well, so far, so good... the latest version is working nicely. I still have stupidly long loading times but once the game is started, it's smooth enough. Interval Loader, though, is significantly slower on Linux : even with fast chords, animation speed at 20, and rough animation enabled, it's not fa...

I can confirm that ETC runs quite well on Linux using Wine and TiMIDIty! On my machine, it takes a little while to load a new game from the menu screen, but then it works like a charm :) I had left ETC aside for a while, but now that I know I can run it on Linux, I think I might give it some time. T...

The question: does the error occur when you hear a Query Sound (to be responded to with X or V), or does it happen when an alien is blown up, or does it happen when you're doing a launch code? To me, it happens right after an alien is blown up : no sound is heard, and the NilObjectException message...

I got this bug too, and I too would say it generally occurs at some point in the 1st class. Although I think , but I'm really not sure, that I got it one time when I was in the 2nd class. Maybe it occurs when you reach a certain number of sounds played, and maybe that was a game where I got bombed b...

It's quite logical really. I got 100% in the red category too, when I did the benchmark right after playing. When you do a benchmark right after a game, you're still in "game mode", waiting for a C to pop out so you can blow up an alien. So when there is no C, you just know it and you press "X" auto...

I use MidiYoke to re-route the MIDI messages to TiMIDIty++, which generates a nice output in wav format thanks to the EAW set of patches.

(may require overt geekiness to understand me here ;) )

Yeah, the C-A-T CAT idea is a good one I think. Have you updated recently ? It's a lot easier in the latest version to go through Captain, in my opinion. But then again, I didn't have that much problems with the Captain levels in the earlier versions, it's just the octaves that weren't introduced as...

It's been a while since my last benchmark, but I remember I had similar figures : around 90% red and 50% green. At the time I did that benchmark, I had the same explanation for my green percentage : not enough familiarity with the other octaves of C. I guess I'll do another benchmark soon and see wh...

Hey, I just realized my version must be out of date. Because I didn't ask for the latest update when you fixed that bug for Petew83.

Edit : wait a minute... no, it's up to date, you sent it to me on Sunday, August 28th.

I've reached the blue levels again, and aside from the bugs which forced me to end my game, the software is much better now. It's now a 50/50 ratio of C and G instead of 10/90, with (at the beginning) simple query sounds for both pitches. That really helps and I was definetly hearing both targets th...

Same here, Blue aliens, cadet 2nd... All of a sudden the game started playing melodies for the red missiles, just like the ones we hear in the Red Destroyer 1st class level, I'm not sure if that's on purpose ? And then dozens of messages pop up saying the application must shut down. I've also experi...

Of course you'll be confused, that's the point ! The game confuses you with differents timbres to make sure you can recognize the intervals. You could go one instrument at a time, but it makes no sense learning what a major 3rd sounds like on the piano, then on the guitar, then... You just want to l...
